Festival Vibes and Pizza Parties: Beth & Matt’s Epic Tramshed Cardiff Wedding
If there is one thing we love more than a wedding, it’s a wedding that breaks all the rules. When Beth and Matt first told me they were planning their big day at Tramshed Cardiff, I knew we were in for something special. But nothing could have prepared me for the sheer, unadulterated “cool” of their festival-vibe celebration.
Forget the rigid schedules, the three-course sit-down meals, and the formal receiving lines. This was a day built entirely on good music, incredible food, and a “chilled-out” atmosphere that felt more like a summer weekend at Glastonbury than a traditional wedding.
The Venue: Industrial Cool at Tramshed
Tramshed is easily one of the most iconic venues in Cardiff, and its industrial, grit-meets-glamour aesthetic was the perfect backdrop for Beth and Matt. With its high ceilings, exposed brickwork, and history as a live music hub, it set the tone for a day that was all about the experience.
The ceremony took place on the balcony, overlooking the main hall. It was intimate, emotional, and perfectly “them.” As they walked back down the aisle as newlyweds, the energy in the room shifted instantly from “hushed ceremony” to “let’s party.”
No Format, Just Fun
The beauty of Beth and Matt’s day was the lack of a traditional format. There was no pressure to be in a certain place at a certain time. Instead, guests were encouraged to simply “be.”
The afternoon was a blur of laughter, hugs, and drinks. While some couples worry about the “lull” between the ceremony and the evening, there wasn’t a single quiet moment here. People drifted between the bar, the urban outdoor spaces, and even the Tramshed’s own cinema room, which the couple had cleverly set up as a retreat for the kids (and a few tired adults!).
Food Truck Fever
When it came to the food, Beth and Matt kept the festival theme going with a local favourite. Ffwrnes Pizza rolled in with their wood-fired oven, serving up fresh, piping hot slices that beat a traditional wedding breakfast any day of the week.
There’s something about grabbing a slice of pizza and a beer while chatting with friends that instantly relaxes everyone. It removed the formality and kept the energy high for what was about to come.
The Ultimate Afterparty
As the sun set over Cardiff, the “festival” really kicked into gear. With a live band taking the stage (this is a music venue, after all!), the dance floor didn’t stay empty for a second.
From the “no-pressure” first dance to the final encore, Beth and Matt’s wedding was a masterclass in how to do things your own way. It was authentic, relaxed, and most importantly, a total blast to photograph.
Beth & Matt, thank you for letting me capture your incredible day. If this is what weddings look like, I want in on every single one!
