Getting Ready at Oxwich Bay Hotel
If you’re getting ready at the Oxwich Bay Hotel for your wedding day, then you will probably be at the Bridal Suite, which is just upstairs having a gorgeous view of Oxwich Bay itself. As an added bonus, you will also get to see who’s arriving on your wedding day!
Lots of bridesmaids?
If you’ve a lot of bridesmaids and family getting ready with you, I’ve known the hotel giving access to the bar area, just outside the ceremony room for everyone to get ready. This really works, as there’s so much more room. And as the decor is dark, it’s not easy for people to see inside. Also, it gives me that dark, modern and contrasty look I love capturing at weddings!
If the brideal suite isn’t your thing, there’s also the ultra modern pods that are available in the Secret Gardens, one of the newest additions to Oxwich Bay Hotel. Take a look at Siani and Laurie’s Wedding, Siani got ready in the Secret Garden pods. It’s a lovely enclosed area with numerous pods where everyone can get ready together, but also have their own space too!
Wedding Ceremony at Oxwich Bay Hotel
If you’re having your civil ceremony at Oxwich Bay Hotel, you’ll be getting married at the gorgeous Chestnut Room. If you’re still planning your wedding and you’re undecided, it’s really worh the visit. And if you’re having a winter wedding, then you’ll be warmed up at the top of the aisle with a cosy log fire where you’ll exchange your vows.
Group Photos at Oxwich Bay Hotel
Once your wedding ceremony is over, you guys will have some time to see your guests, enjoy your welcome drinks, then it’s over to the formal group photos. Obviously, it’s not mandatory, I’ve photographed some weddings where couples don’t want any group photos, so it’s totally up to you guys and what you want.
Anyway, group photos are usually just outside the Chestnut Room on the garden, whilst I pop up to the top into the bridal suite to get a photograph of you and all your guests from above, so nobody can hide from the camera!
If it’s raining, I’ve photographed groups in the Chestnut Room, and also the marquee too. So there’s a couple of options, there’s always a wet weather solution!
Groups can also be photographed on the gardens outside the marquee too, so it’s totally up to you guys, just let me know on the day.
Wedding Photography at Oxwich Bay Hotel
After your group photos with all your guests, I’ll take you as newlyweds around the venue for a walk to get some creative, modern and elegant wedding photography around this South Wales wedding venue! If you’re up for the beach, we’ll pop over whatever the weather!
Speeches at Oxwich Bay Hotel
After photographin your wedding breakfast room, I’ll spend the remaining time capturing those natural photos we all know and love of guests having fun, chatting, laughing and messing about with kids! I’ll also capture your guests looking at the camera too, so you get a nice mix – best of both worlds!
Then it’s the wedding breakfast followed by the speeches! Speeches are usually captured from a distance, guests are usually unaware I’m taking photos, so if your speech is funny, then you’re sure to get some happy photos of guests – no pressure then!
Sunset at Oxwich Bay Hotel
Depending on when you’re getting married, it’s quite likely, that after your speeches, the sun will be setting, if not, then the sun would have at least gone down anyway. The light will be that much softer, the skies will not be so harsh and bright. And I’ll be whisking you guys away down the beach for some dramatic photos showing off your dress in that amazing skies Swansea has to offer!
First Dance at Oxwich Bay Hotel
After your photos down the beach, it’ll be time to party! But before your first dance happens, your evening guests will be arriving, so I’ll make sure to get photos of your evening guests and the general atmosphere of the evening before your first dance starts. If you have anything special planned, make sure to let me know in advance, so I can make sure I’m in the right position to capture everything perfectly!
Evening Portraits at Oxwich Bay Hotel
I love being creative with light, and when the sun is down, and the natural light photographers call it a day, I’m out with my portable studio lights lighting up the skies getting you dramatic photos to treasure forever! Although some couples would have had enough photos by then, and are happy to dance the night away! So if you’re up for it, I’ll spend about 10 minutes, maybe less to get some photos which will finish your wedding album off perfectly!
What happens when it rains on my wedding day at Oxwich Bay Hotel?
As a professional photographer, I’m pelased to say, leave the wet weather plans to me! Don’t stress, there’s always a back up plan! As mentioned about, group photos can be taken in the Chestnut Room or at the marquee. And if you guys don’t mind getting a bit wet, I’m more than happy to photograph you guys in the rain! A lot of couples book me because they’ve seen what photos I can produce in the rain, this is definetly a bonus, as the less expereince photographers will have to resort to getting photos inside and not embrace the rain!
Engagement Photos at Oxwich Bay
If you’re thinking “Should I have engagement photos taken?” then Oxwich Bay is a great location, Natalie and Paul decided to pop down for an hour to get some really fun photos down the beach and dunes. With Oxwich Bay, it’s not just the beach, there’s the dunes and other little parts of the beach where we can get photos too. And if you’re brace enough, you can even jump into the water too!
